IJJO Day by Day

A new webinar has been published by the FACT FOR MINORS project, in which the IJJO participates as partner. The webinar, led by psychologists Mauro Di Lorenzo and Virginia Suigo of the Minotauro Institute, deals with the single most common reason for referral to child and adolescent mental health services: disruptive, impulse-control and conduct disorders.

IJJO Day by Day

The second steering committee meeting of the IJJO-led project ‘Implementing Restorative Justice with Child Victims’, co-funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the European Union, took place on the 19th of December at the IJJO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The IJJO was represented during this event by project manager, Silvia Randazzo.

IJJO Day by Day

The third and final study visit and national seminar of the IJJO-led project ‘Strengthening juvenile justice systems in the counter-terrorism context: Capacity-building and peer learning among stakeholders’ took place in Bremen, Germany, from the 11th to the 13th December 2017. This event was organised by the Bremen Ministry of Justice and Constitution and was attended by the ‘Strengthening’ project partners, as well as invited consultants and stakeholders.

IJJO Day by Day

The annual European Forum on the rights of the child organised by the European Commission took place on the 7th – 8th of November 2017 in Brussels to discuss children deprived of their liberty and alternatives to detention. The Forum gathered various organisations, practitioners, academics and institutions from the EU, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and the Western Balkans. The IJJO was represented by director Raquel Jiménez Martos.

IJJO Day by Day

The third study visit of the IJJO-led project ‘Implementing Restorative Justice with Child Victims’, co-funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the European Union, took place on the 6th and 7th of November in Leuven, Belgium. This third field visit was organised by the IJJO in partnership with the European Forum for Restorative Justice (EFRJ) and the Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven, and was followed by an international training seminar for project partners and external professionals on the 8th and 9th of November. The IJJO was represented during these events by Silvia Randazzo, project manager.

IJJO Day by Day

The Juvenile Prosecution Service in Castellón de la Plana (Spain) organised a study visit for a delegation of Estonian judiciary authority members from the 23rd to the 27th October, to allow them to familiarise themselves with various juvenile justice institutions in the province of Castellón. This visit included a workshop on effective participation of children in the juvenile justice system, organised by the IJJO.

The second study visit and national seminar of the IJJO-led project ‘Strengthening juvenile justice systems in the counter-terrorism context: Capacity-building and peer learning among stakeholders’, took place in the Netherlands on the 16th, 17th and 18th of October 2017. This event was organised by project partners Defence for Children the Netherlands and the 180 Foundation. The IJJO was represented by Adélaïde Vanhove and Silvia Randazzo, Policy Officer on European Affairs and Project Manager respectively.

On the 11th of October 2017 the IJJO took part in the first meeting for the partners of the project ‘ProCam - Procedural Rights Observed by the Camera: Audiovisual Recordings of Interrogations in the EU’, organised by the Hungarian Helsinki Committee (HHC) in Budapest, Hungary.

From the 26th to the 28th of September 2017 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the IJJO co-organised, together with the Youth Justice Agency of Northern Ireland, the second study visit of the IJJO-led project ‘Implementing Restorative Justice with Child Victims’, financed by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the European Union.

As part of the ´FACT FOR MINORS – Fostering Alternative Care for Troubled Minors´ project, its partners attended an online seminar on mental health for young offenders on the 27th of September, organised by the health foundation Sant Pere Claver under the regional Government of Catalonia, whose Justice department is a partner of this project. The IJJO was represented by Adélaïde Vanhove, Policy Officer on European Affairs.
